“AI and Digital Transformation for ASEAN TVET Teachers and Educators”

On 24-25 March 2025, the Capacity Building Workshop on AI and Digital Transformation for ASEAN TVET Teachers and Educators was co-organized by Cheju Halla University and SEAMEO TED, which 26 participants, who are TVET schools management and teachers attending the workshop (1 participant from Brunei, 5 from Cambodia, 5 from Indonesia, 4 from Malaysia, 3 from Philippines, 3 from Thailand, 3 from Vietnam 2 from China, Policy Dialogue on Empowering TVET. This workshop aims to equip ASEAN TVET teachers with essential AI and digital skills, enhancing their ability to integrate advanced technologies into their teaching methodologies. With the participation of esteemed experts from Cheju Halla University and collaborative discussions among ASEAN educators, the event will foster knowledge exchange and strengthen educational cooperation between ASEAN and Korea. Welcome Remarks was given by Dr. Boyoun LEE, Vice Director, Office of International Affairs, CHU and Addressing Remarks was given by Dr. Songheang Ai, Director of SEAMEO TED. The Opening Remarks was given by Prof. Dr. Sung-Hun KIM, President of Cheju Halla University.

The Key outcomes of the workshop at CHU are briefed as follows.

  • Sung-Hun Kim shared on the AI/Digital Transformation in Education. He mainly highlighted the digital education prospects, AI Education Platform, and Cooperation in digital education
  • Dr Hyejin Cho, Assistant Professor, Director of School of Artificial Intelligence of CHU and Committee Board of AI at KOICA shared on AI and Vocational Education: Empowering Vocational Education through Digital Tools and Analytics. She mainly highlighted the introduction of vocational education,the role of AI in Vocational Education, Digital Techniques for Professional Career, Analytics in vocational education, Learning Analytics and AI, Industry partnerships and Collaboration tools and Networking in AI.
  • Bo-Youn Lee, Vice Director, Office of International Affairs, CHU presented the Understanding Natural Resources and Tourism Industry of Jeju. Her main outlines covered the overview of Jeju, Natural resource of Jeju, Tourism Industry of Jeju and Smart of Jeju.
  • During the workshop, participants had a chance to tour Digital Media Art Museum, which show very innovative and creative integration of arts and digital technology developed by CHU. Beside. The tour and visit to CHU Marine Leisure Sport Center and CHU’s horse Science Department was arranged for participants .

The MoU Signing between SEAMEO TED and CHU, which both parties agreed to implement  cooperation activities including, joint professional development and training programs, academic and cultural events for instructors, school directors, and students, joint workshops, webinars, seminars, conferences on technical education and life-long learning for skills development, joint regional research projects and publication, promoting study opportunities for international students from Southeast Asia, execute e-learning development programs,  and joint regional community services program
