International Webinar On the theme: Issues and Challenges of Internship and Apprenticeship: Perspectives of Private Sector

International Webinar On the theme: Issues and Challenges of Internship and Apprenticeship: Perspectives of Private Sector on Friday 30 September 2022, Time: 09:00-12:00 (Bangkok Time).

An internship is a period of work experience offered by an organization for a limited period of time. They are typically undertaken by students and graduates looking to gain relevant skills and experience in a particular field. Employers benefit from these placements because they often recruit employees from their best interns, who have known capabilities, thus saving time and money in the long run.

Similar to internships, apprenticeships transition students from vocational school into the workforce. The lack of standardization and oversight leaves the term “internship” open to broad interpretation. Interns may be high school students, college and university students, or post-graduate adults.

Internships and apprenticeships allow TVET students to gain real work-based experiences that can help them transition smoothly from school to workplace and further obtain a full, productive and decent employment.

The popularity of internships and apprenticeships has been increasing among students who are willing to gain a complete relevant skill and work experience before or after their graduation. However, there are issues and challenges of internships and apprenticeships arose to be obstacles in achieving a complete and meaningful internships and apprenticeships of students and graduates. This pushes SEAMEO TED, in collaboration with its partners, to conduct an International Webinar on the theme: Issues and Challenges of Internship and Apprenticeship: Perspectives of Private Sector to allow education specialists and subject matter experts (SMEs) from various countries to address relevant issues and challenges, to share their knowledge, experience and insights, and to discuss possible solutions to those particular issues and challenges.
