SEAMEO TED led by Dr. Songheang Ai, director and Department of Education Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, People Republic of China led by H.E Liu Youyi, director general had a courtesy meeting to check the progress of TVET-based program activities attached at SEAMEO TED and to propose some initiatives of cooperation. As a result, SEAMEO TED will provide and accelerate the implementation of TVET-based program that three Chinese experts work to support the function and tasks of SEAMEO TED and the capacity-building programs for teachers and school management at TVET schools. In other words, SEAMEO TED will be a focal point of coordination between Department of Education Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport for any project/activity implementation. H.E Liu proposed the support from SEAMEO TED in the operation of Confusion Institute located at National Institute of Battambang, and two institutes namely China-Cambodia Institute of Modern Craftmanship in Construction located at NTTI and China-Cambodia Institute of Modern Craftmanship in Green Energy located at Prek Leap National Institute of Agriculture. In response, SEAMEO TED was great to cooperate and support these proposals.
The Department of Education Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region will consider dispatching other Chinese experts to help develop the capacity of Cambodian TVET teachers for a short-time period (3 or 6 months) to meet the immediate needs of professional development programs at some TVET schools in rural areas. In response, SEAMEO TED was grad to get them onboard to reskill and upskill TVET teachers.
