Dr. Songheang Ai, Director of SEAMEO TED paid a courtesy visit to Luang Prabang Technical and Vocational College (LPTVC) at Luang Prabang Province, Lao PDR on March 25, 2024 to strengthen cooperation on technical education. Mr. Bounpanh Thammalangka, principal of LPTVC and teachers have warmly welcomed the visit stressing the partnership intention with SEAMEO TED for all regional activity participation as part of SEAMEO member countries. He was delighted to welcome the delegation of SEAMEO TED to share the achievements and highlights having done so far. He was committed in working cooperatively with SEAMEO TED to learn and share best practices relevant to technical education to the region.

The college has offered the curriculum focusing on Accounting, Marketing, Tourism and Hotel Management, Food Processing and Beverage Service, Information Technology, Furniture and Carpentry, Welding and Plumber, Agriculture Machinery, Electricity, Electric Cooling Machine, Automotives, and Installation and Cooling machine Repairment.

In response, Dr. Ai, shared the achievements that SEAMEO TED has been done consisting of a number of training programs (online and offline), a number of MoU/MoA signing, a number of research studies, a number of study visits, a number of conferences and workshops/webinars, etc. Dr. Ai also shared the activities of Southeast Asian Technical and Vocational High School/College Network consisting of 81 vocational and technical high schools/colleges among all 11 SEAMEO member countries as the network members. As the members, we learn from each other, and share best practices for mutual benefits and understanding. Dr. Ai welcomed LPTVC to be a new member of the network.

Both sides focused on the exchanging programs for faculty, capacity building programs, and study visits to benchmark best practices of technical education. Finally, MoU or MoA were proposed to closely work officially.
