2nd SEA Vocational-Technical Webinar on Youth Empowerment Amidst the Pandemic and Favorite School for Students

SEAMEO TED, in collaboration with Go Study Global Education and SEA Vocational-Technical High School Network Members, co-hosted the 2nd SEA Vocational-Technical Webinar on 17 March 2021 virtually. In the webinar, two topics were presented by network members: Best Practices: Youth  Empowerment amidst the Pandemic and Favorite School for Students.

The topic “Best Practices: Youth Empowerment amidst the Pandemic” was presented by Ms. Colleen Hyacinth B. Cabayao, Jan Vince L. Mendoza and Reymark L. Gil, who are the experts and senior teachers of Dueñas General Comprehensive High School, Philippines. This session is focused on the innovations, mitigating initiatives and best practices of Dueñas General Comprehensive High School. The session detailed information and description of the processes, the underlying bases and the challenges of each program and activity initiated by the school and school organizations that geared towards learners’ development and empowerment. Innovations and mitigating for the development of the learners primarily refer the assistance and support that the school shows that we care, and that the school is sensitive to the needs and sentiments of the stakeholders especially learners. Best practices, on the other hand, will center on programs and activities that help develop and enhance the aptitude and attitude of the youth, the learners in facing and surviving various incidences in this time of pandemic.  In the same session, with strong coordination from the school principal of Dueñas General Comprehensive High School, Philippines,  HON. MAMERTO L. PELOPERO III Municipal Mayor Municipality of Dueñas, Philippines also paid his time by sharing his video clip to congratulate and contribute this Webinar and share his meaning perspectives how to empower youth engagement amist the pandemic. That moment was very interesting, and inspiring for the network.    

Another topic on Favorite Schools for Students was shared by Dr. Ahmad Alamsyah, Miss Rena and Rosdiana &Rizky, who are expert and graduate from SMK Taruna Terpadu 2 Bogor, Indonesia. From the second , the presenters explained very detailed on some key outline including generation Z, the characteristic of Z Generation, Gen Z’s interests toward school / studying and their expectation school and finally he shared the concept how favorite school for Gen Z should be.  

The 2nd webinar was participated by 185 participants, who are teachers, practitioners and students from 11 countries including Indonesia (33 participants), Malaysia (26), Philippines (94), Brunei Darussalam (10), Cambodia (9), Laos (4), Myanmar (3), Vietnam (1), Thailand (1), Singapore (1) and Timor Leste (2) and other country (1 participant).   They did learn new knowledge, and obtained experience sharing by the experts on the two topic.
