During a formal visit to Cambodia, the Chinese delegation from Guangxi Education Department led by Dr. Li Qingxian, Deputy Director General of Guangxi Education Department had a courtesy meeting with Dr. Songheang Ai, director of SEAMEO TED to discuss existing cooperative activities and to realize the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between both parties. Following up with the MoU specification, two Chinses experts on Robotics, AI, Coding, Big Data, Programming will be dispatched to work cooperatively with SEAMEO TED in terms of teachers and school management’s capacity-building programs at each target school and organizing national and regional workshops and conferences. After job posting on social media in China, two Chinese experts will be found out and dispatched to Cambodia in September 2023 to assist SEAMEO TED work regarding the capacity-building program. SEAMEO TED is ready to welcome both of them to cooperatively work at the center in the upcoming months for the benefits of students, teachers and school management.

In addition to Chinese expert dispatch to Cambodia as part of technical skill provision, Dr. Songheang Ai requested the Guangxi Education Department to support the Chinese language training course to students and teachers at some general and technical high schools in Cambodia. Following up with the request, Dr. Li encouraged SEAMEO TED to make detailed plans requiring Chinese language training courses consisting of number of Chinese teachers/trainers needed, names and number of schools needed the Chinese language training courses, the level of Chinese language training courses needed, etc. The detailed plans will be discussed later before making collective decision by both parties.
