SEAMEO TED’s Director Delivering Key Note Address in the Opening Ceremony of the China-ASEAN Rail Transit Talent Cultivation Summit Forum 2020

SEAMEO TED’s Director, Dr. Ai Songheang was invited to have
a key note address to the opening ceremony of the China-ASEAN Rail Transit
Talent Cultivation Summit Forum 2020. He virtually attended from the TED’s
office. In this meaningful event,  Dr.
Songheang highlighted the importance of the Belt and Road
Initiative,China-ASEAN alliance which can be moving productively and fruitfully
in a right direction together. He addressed that the themes of the forum “New
Demand for 3 Talent Cultivation in the Intelligence+Era” of the conference
captures the characteristic of technical education with a new introduction of
railway talent training programs for some ASEAN countries. SEAMEO TED will
expand its cooperation to China for railway skills development and research
studies and promote technical education among learners, teachers, school
management, and supporting administrators with visible investment that focuses
on technical creativities and initiatives.

In the same day, a Memorandum of Understanding between SEAMEO Regional Center for Technical Educational Development (SEAMEO TED)  with the China – ASEAN Rail Transit Engineering Vocational Education Alliance was made to extend partnership and regional collaboration. This important even was virtually on 02nd December 2020 virtually in the China-ASEAN Rail Transit Talent Cultivation Summit Forum 2020. The purpose of this MOU is to establish a range of collaborative undertakings and use domestic and overseas resources of both Parties to carry out the relevant cooperation in railway international technical education. Both Alliance and SEAMEO TED wish to pursue a collaborative relationship to the greatest extent possible through the collaborative activities including (1) Strengthening the cooperation and exchange between colleges and universities from China and ASEAN in the field of railway transit vocational education (2) Strengthening exchange between teaching staff and students between colleges and universities from the both sides (3) Uniting colleges and universities from both sides to publish curriculum related to the railway transit vocational education together and publicize the curriculum (4) Joint publication of China-ASEAN railway transit vocational education related textbooks (5) Uniting colleges and universities from both sides to conduct scientific research cooperation and technical exchange activity and (6) The development and publicity of Alliance.
