Regional Workshop on “The Labor Market Needs in IR 4.0 Era between the Private Sectors and Technical Education Teachers in the ASEAN Region” (Face-to-Face)

SEAMEO TED in cooperation with Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) organized a regional workshop on “The Labor Market Needs in IR 4.0 Era between the Private Sector and Technical Education Teachers in the ASEAN Region” on 14-15 July 2022 in Preah Sihanouk Province, Kingdom of Cambodia. This workshop was co-chaired by H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports and the Chairman of the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC Council Chair), and Prof. Hidetoshi Nishimura, President of ERIA.
The workshop was attended by 106 participants who are technical education teachers, technical and vocational high school management, international experts, industrial representatives, and policymakers from ASEAN countries. The workshop aims to (1) strengthen and extend the relationship among the private sectors, technical education teachers, technical and vocational high school management, and policymakers; (2) create a forum to share best practices, lessons-leant, and experiences; and (3) enhance hand-on skills of technical education teachers by conducting site visits to factories/enterprises. The workshop is one of the side events to celebrate Cambodia ASEAN Chairmanship 2022 under the theme “ASEAN A.C.T: Addressing Challenges Together.” The outcome signals to strengthen and expand technical education at the high school level more widely, especially the close relationship between the private sector, technical education teachers, school management, and policymakers.
