Courtesy Meeting between China TVET Cooperation Delegation and SEAMEO TED Management Phnom Penh, July 13, 2023

The 33 Chinese delegates from 22 TVET institutions led by China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) has a courtesy meeting with the management of SEAMEO TED at TED Office on July 13, 2023 at 9:00 (AM). The meeting purposes to enhance the mutual understanding and to promote TVET cooperation between China and SEAMEO country members.

Dr. Songheang Ai, director of SEAMEO TED expressed his warm welcome to the delegation. He stressed that the meeting paved the way to move closer and closer the tie and relationship between SEAMEO and China in terms of technical and vocational education and training (TVET). He briefly described the background of SEAMEO TED that has been established in 2017 by SEAMEO Council to support SEAMEO Priority No.4 (Promoting Technical and Vocational Education and Training). SEAMEO TED is one of the 26 SEAMEO Regional Centers working for technical education at secondary education level in the SEAMEO country region.

Madam An Yan, Deputy Secretary-General of CEAIE expressed her thanks and appreciation to SEAMEO TED for warmly welcoming her delegation. She noted that the meeting focused on enhancing mutual understanding and cooperation between 22 Chinese Institutions and SEAMEO TED and strengthening the relationship between SEAMEO and China. She also mentioned the important roles of the establishment of China-ASEAN Cooperation Week, China-ASEAN TVET Consortium (CATC) underlining the 100+100 flagship program.

Mr. Suong Saruon, head of public relations and partnership division of SEAMEO TED presented the key achievements having done recent years. Mr. Song Zhengfu, president of Chongqing Industry and Trade Polytechnic and Ms. Zhuang Shiqin, vice president of Guiyang Pre-School Education College and other participants shared their school information, proposed cooperative activities and events such as student exchange programs, capacity-building programs for technical teachers, study visits, and scholarship programs for students. Some institutions invited SEAMEO TED management to the events in China to be held in 2023 and 2024. In response, SEAMEO TED is delighted to cooperating any events/activities that are aligned with its vision and missions.
