Guiyang, Guizhou, China On 29-30 August 2023, Dr Songheang Ai, Director of SEAMEO Regional Centre for Technical Education Development was invited to attend the 2023 China-ASEAN Cooperation Week and participated in 2023 ASEAN-China Education Week Agenda of TVET Activities to deliver a keynote address on the thoughts, experiences, and prospects of TVET cooperation between China and ASEAN countries.
The theme of this year’s Education Cooperation Week is “New Vision for Education Cooperation, Common Prosperity for Belt and Road”, with 122 sub-events to be held during the period. Among them, 65 supporting ones will be held during the opening period, and 57 will be held in other periods throughout the year, highlighting “new forms” and the “project-oriented”, “diversified” and “cooperative” nature of the Education Cooperation Week.
This forum will continue to deepen China-ASEAN cooperation in the fields of digital education and vocational education, promote cooperation between Chinese and foreign high-level universities, launch the ‘Viewing Guizhou Through Brideges’ events to facilitate the development of the local tourism industry, promote cultural exchanges between Chinese and foreign youth, and deepen strategic cooperation with the relevant institutions of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, etc.” Regarding the aforementioned goals, exchanges will be carried out while efforts will be made for practical cooperation.
During the event period from August 28 to September 2, five research centres will be inaugurated, seven cooperation alliances and five cooperation centres will be established, 17 cooperation results and joint projects will be released, and five collections of academic papers will be formed. Meanwhile, more than 50 cooperation agreements and memorandums are scheduled to be signed.
